Radiation " I cause and Cure Cancer "

Are you serious??? With my eyes wide open,  that was my reaction the fight time I heard radiation is use to cure cancer and some non-cancerous tumors. My reaction was based on what I've been taught, which was exposure to radiation causes cancer. It baffled me how something causes a problem and also solves the same problem.

We are exposed to different types of radiation (ionizing and non-ionizing radiation) everyday from the ground, building materials, air, food, out space and even from elements naturally occurring in our bodies. The ionizing radiations are x-rays, gamma rays, neutrons, protons, electrons and the non-ionizing radiations are infrared, microwave, radiowave etc.

The x-rays and gamma rays have higher energies which make them have good or bad impact on the human cells. When exposed to these radiations they cause damage to cells and DNA and also increase the risk of having cancer.

Also these radiations are used to cure cancer and non-cancerous tumors through radiotherapy. Radiation therapy can be done internally (brachytherapy) and externally ( teletherapy).
