Determining your Skin Undertone

When it comes to determining the right shades for  lipsticks, eyeshadow, foundation and powder there are certain things that come to play. We need to know our skin tone and Undertone. The skin tone is the colour which you see on the surface of the skin, which is grouped into dark, light, medium and so on. The undertone is the colour underneath the surface of your skin. It’s possible to have same skin colour with someone else but a different undertone.

 

Undertones are categorized into warm, cool and neutral, you can identify which you have by;

• Vein test: Take a look at the veins on your wrist, if the colours of your veins look green then you are warm. If it’s blue then your undertone is cool. If you think its blue- green then its neutral.

• Jewelry test: Another way is using gold/silver jewelries, check which one looks better on you. If you look better on silver then you have a cool undertone, if you look good on gold then you have a warm undertone. But if both colours are good on you then you have a neutral undertone.

• White and off-white test; when you have no makeup on, take a piece of white cloth and also off-white. Check which compliments your skin, if the pure white does then you have a warm undertone. If it’s off-white then it’s a cool undertone. If both compliments your skin then it’s neutral.
