Be inspired "Quit Strolling"

Sometime ago, a friend of mine was going to a town to preach and he came to a point he didn't know the way again. So he hired a bike man to lead the way while his taxi followed after which he would be paid. The road was not good for a car to speed high on while a bike could maximize its speed on the road, so the taxi driver was taking it slow while the bike man forgot that he was meant to be leading some people.

After some minutes they couldn't see the bike man and they were stalked. They had to hire another person to show them the road. When they got to their destination, they saw the first bike man waiting for them and asking where they have been and also demanding for his payment.

But as funny as it is... This is what many leaders do. They lead us at their pace not knowing we have never travelled that terrain before. If you're leading people, it's better you know that your actual speed is just the speed of your followers and not the one with which you move.

So maybe instead of using simple English to explain a point you choose to show your vocabulary and register, you will end up achieving nothing. Maybe you are a lecturer and you are reading this. You teach first years the same way you teach masters students. You move at your pace and give people no time to follow... You should know you are earning a salary you didn't work for. You are paid to transfer knowledge And not just to speak words.

The one that troubles me most are preachers. Who make random statements and leave people more confused and with more questions. You should know that everyone have not read all you have read, they don't know all you know; if they do, they would need no teacher. You must therefore step down and be patient, calm down and lead. Ensure people are following. Don't feel irritated when your followers ask 'dumb' questions. The things you consider very elementary may be much more advanced to them.

Don't be like the bike man who thought he was paid to drive empty to a place not knowing he's meant to lead a car. Identify who you are meant to lead.
Make sure they are following... Don't assume they are. Learn to look back to be sure.

Remember, Leadership without equivalent followership is "strolling" ..
Quit strolling!!!!
