Have you heard of the Stealing Disease?
Do you know about the stealing disease as I call it , or have you heard of Kleptomania? Seriously!!! I had never heard of it until 2 days ago from a Doctor friend. while seeing a movie together there was a particular character who couldn't resist the temptation of stealing people's stuff. So I decided to share few things I have learnt about Kleptomania.
Kleptomania is a continuous urge to steal not for personal needs or gain. People with Kleptomania steal things which have no value or things which they can afford to buy. The urge to steal occurs spontaneously without the person planning to steal or help from someone else.
The inability to resist the urge to steal, feeling remorse, guilt and shame, fear of arrest after stealing, having pleasure and relief while stealing are part of the symptoms of Kleptomania. Most people with kleptomania Steal from public places like supermarkets, open markets, stores and even in parties.
The cause of Kleptomania isn't known, but there are various research that suggest that it's may be linked to changes in the brain. Though there is no standard treatment for kleptomania, but it can be cured by medications and Psychotherapy.
So now you have heard of Kleptomania as I did 2 days ago, what do you think about it?
The first time I heard this word was in Primary 4. It was in one of the comprehension passages in our English text book.

Always heard of it and I wonder why someone will steal what they don't need. I don't just get it
